Background: Maternal Near Miss refers to a women who nearly died but survived complication that occurred during pregnancy, childbirth or within 42 days of termination pregnancy. The aim this study is analyze maternal near miss events in local context and identify gaps contextualize corrective measures be taken.Methods: This prospective was conducted the Obstetrics Gynaecology department Raja Muthiah Medical College Hospital, Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu January 2020 2022. population comprised critically ill pregnant, laboring, post-partum post abortal admitted OG ICU were identified based on WHO criteria for miss. data monitored by maintaining review register.Results: Most participants belonged age group 19 24 years. 22.5% G1 antenatal period. 31% P1 postnatal their cause MNM 19.5% placenta previa, 10.5% it cardiomyopathy 7.5% COVID pneumonia severe anaemia, respectively. Abruptio placenta, pulmonary edema ruptured ectopic, each contributed 7% causes MNM.Conclusion: majority cases Hospital arrival, which attribute failure recognition seriousness condition. helps us reduce morbidity. observe trends event our institution.
